Man Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident Involving Commuter Train
A man was seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident after his vehicle collided with a Gold Line commuter train the afternoon of January 29, 2010. According to a report in the Pasadena Star News, a Mitsubishi sedan was going through the intersection when it was hit by a train carrying about 100 people. The driver of the car was severely injured. Two passengers in the train also sustained injuries. The train pushed the car about 60 feet before it came to a complete stop. Police are trying to determine the cause of the crash. They say, it initially appears that the railroad crossing arms and signals were functioning properly and that the car struck the crossing arm just before the crash.
My heart goes out the victim who has suffered severe injuries in this train accident. I hope he has not sustained major injuries in this crash. I wish him the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep him in your prayers.

Liability Issues
Based on this news report, officials are still looking into what happened here. If I were a member of this victim's family, I would be curious to find out if there were enough warning signs posted at this railroad crossing to warn motorists and if the arm was in fact working properly. I’d look into whether the driver had sufficient warning or the time to slow down and come to a complete stop before the arm came down. If he didn’t and the arm at the railroad crossing was defective, then the agency responsible for maintaining that railroad crossing could be held liable for this injury accident.
