San Bernardino Car Accident Kills Four
A San Bernardino car accident resulted in the death of a family of four -- 32-year-old Ryan Villalpando, his 29-year-old wife Veronica, 4-year-old son Mateo and infant daughter Bella Rose. KTLA News reports that the chain-reaction car accident involved several vehicles including two large trucks, a U-Haul truck and two other vehicles. The fatal car crash happened the afternoon of February 13, 2010 on the 15 Freeway near Jurupa Avenue. An investigation into the cause of this tragic accident is still ongoing.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the Villalpando family. Apparently, he was a football coach at Moreno Valley High School. What a devastating loss for his family and the community. Tragic! Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
Car Accidents
There were 17 fatalities and 1,012 injuries involving car accidents in Ontario, according to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Countywide, 263 deaths and 8,504 injuries were reported as a result of traffic accidents in 2008.
What Caused this Fatal Car Accident?
This news report does not clearly state how or why this car accident occurred. There are many questions here. Who was at fault? Who started the chain-reaction crash? Why did the crash occur? Was one of the drivers speeding, driving recklessly or in a distracted manner? Was one of the drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs? If that was the case, that driver could be held liable for the accident and resulting injuries. If one of the big rigs caused this accident, the trucking company could also be held liable.
Wrongful Death Claims
The Villalpando family would be well-advised to consult with an experienced California personal injury lawyer, who will ensure that their rights are protected. Where negligence or wrongdoing is involved, families of deceased car accident victims can file wrongful death claims seeking compensation to cover funeral expenses, lost future earnings, loss of love and companionship and other related damages.
