Fatal Los Angeles Motorcycle Accident
A 48-year-old LAPD officer who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Atwater Village, was identified as Kenneth Aragon. KTLA News reports that this tragic accident occurred the morning of December 3, 2009 at the intersection of Fletcher Drive and Larga Avenue. No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured in this fatal accident. LAPD officials are investigating the incident.
My heart goes out to the family of Officer Kenneth Aragon, who has apparently served the police department for 19 years. He leaves behind his wife, Renee Aragon and five children. This is a heartbreaking loss and a devastating blow for this family. They will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Los Angeles Motorcycle Accidents
According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 traffic accident statistics, there were 32 fatalities and 1,158 injuries involving motorcycle accidents in the city of Los Angeles in 2007. Countywide, 85 people lost their lives and 2,792 were injured as a result of motorcycle accidents in 2007.
This news report tells us that investigators are not quite sure what caused Aragon to lose control of his motorcycle and crash. There were earlier reports that this may have been a hit-and-run, but officials later said no other vehicles were involved. However, there are more questions than answers here. Why did Aragon lose control of his motorcycle? Was there an auto product defect or a mechanical malfunction in Aragon's motorcycle? Was model of motorcycle was he riding? Had it been recalled for product defects? Was this accident caused by a dangerous or defective roadway? Was there any debris on the roadway, which may have caused this tragic accident? Hopefully, the answers to some of these questions may help shed light on what happened here.
