City News Service reports that the fatal car versus pedestrian accident happened near the intersection of Compton Avenue and East 74th Street. Officials say that a Chevy Suburban, whose driver they suspect was under the influence, struck another vehicle and the pedestrian. The driver then abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene on foot. But, he was arrested shortly afterward and arrested on suspicion of DUI. An investigation is ongoing.
