One person was injured in a San Francisco car accident involving a Golden Gate Transit bus and a van. According to a Bay City News report, the injury car accident occurred the morning of April 5, 2011 on Doyle Drive near the Golden Gate Bridge. The circumstances and cause of this accident is still under investigation. The van driver sustained injuries, which were not life-threatening. No one on the bus was hurt.
I'm relieved to hear that the injuries in this case were not life-threatening. I wish the injured victim the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.
San Francisco Car Accidents
According to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 35 fatalities and 3,577 injuries reported as a result of San Francisco car accidents.
What Caused This Injury Accident?
It is unclear from this report as to how or why this injury car versus bus accident occurred. There are several unanswered questions here. Who was at fault for this car accident? Was the bus driver distracted, impaired or inattentive at the time? Did one of the vehicles make an unsafe lane change or rear-end the other vehicle? Did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine how or why this injury crash occurred.
Liability Issues
The at-fault motorist here can be held liable for the injuries, damages and losses caused. If the bus driver is found to have been at fault then, that driver and his or her employer, the transit authority, could be held financially responsible for the van driver's injuries. Negligent parties in such cases can be held liable for medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages.
Car accident victims would be well-advised to seek the counsel of an experienced San Francisco personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. Under California Vehicle Code Section 911.2, any personal injury claim against a public entity must be filed within 180 days of the accident or injury. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
