A man was injured in a San Francisco car accident that involved several vehicles. According to a Bay City News report, the injury collision occurred on the Bay Bridge the morning of December 5, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say a 28-year-old Vallejo man driving a Chevrolet Avalanche was taken to a local hospital. An AC Transit bus, a Nissan Versa and a Ford pickup truck were also involved in the incident. No other injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing.
My heart goes out to the injured victim of this crash. I wish him the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
According to CHP's 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 39 fatalities and 3,405 injuries involving San Francisco car accidents.
What Caused This Crash?
Based on this news report, it is unclear as to how or why this multi-vehicle accident occurred. There are several questions here. Was this a rear-end collision? Was one of the motorists distracted, inattentive, or driving at a high rate of speed? Were alcohol or drugs a factor? Did one of the drivers make an unsafe pass or unsafe lane change? Was fatigued driving a factor in this crash? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine what occurred here and why.
Fault and Liability
In such cases, the at-fault motorist could be held liable for injuries and damages caused. Injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. It would also be in the best interests of injured victims, especially in multi-vehicle accidents, to refrain from talking to insurance adjusters and lawyers for other parties. Do not sign agreements or rush into settlements without first consulting your own attorney.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions
Investigations of multi-vehicle crashes can get complex with conflicting accounts and several parties involved. An experienced San Francisco personal injury lawyer will be able to better advise injured victims and their families about their legal rights and options. A skilled car accident lawyer will also inform victims about how their own car insurance policy applies to an incident where the at-fault party is uninsured or underinsured. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
