Sandy • 19 November 2009 • Car Accident, Personal Injury

A fatal San Bernardino car accident was reported on November 15, 2009 on the Highway 95 near Needles. The Press Enterprise reports that a man, who was driving a Chevy pickup truck with a horse trailer, was killed after his vehicle was struck by the driver of a Dodge Charger, who crossed double yellow lines to pass another vehicle. The Charger ended up colliding head-on with the Chevy pickup truck. The fatally injured victim has not yet been identified. The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.

My heart goes out to everyone who is grieving the loss of this car accident victim. They will be in my prayers.

San Bernardino Car Accidents

Sixteen injuries were reported in Needles in 2007 as a result of car accidents in 2007, according to the CHP's Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. In San Bernardino County, 308 deaths and 9,920 injuries were reported in 2007 due to car accidents.

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Dodge Charger broke the law by trying to make an unsafe pass on the highway. There are a few questions that need to be answered here. What cause the driver of the Dodge to make that unsafe pass, which caused this fatal car accident? Was he intoxicated? Was he driving recklessly? Did his negligence cause this accident? According to California Vehicle Code Section 21460: "When double parallel solid lines are in place, no person driving a vehicle shall drive to the left thereof, except as permitted in this section."

In such cases, victims may want to consult an experienced California personal injury attorney, who will analyze the incident from all angles and help determine whether there was any negligence involved. Victims and their families should remember not to talk or give statements to insurance adjusters or attorneys for another party or sign agreements before they have talked to their own personal injury lawyer.
