Three teens sustained major injuries in a Ventura car accident after their car crashed into a tree on a Simi Valley roadway. According to a news report in the Ventura County Star, the injury crash occurred the night of August 14, 2010 in the 200 block of Country Club Drive East. The three young men in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with what has been described as "significant blunt force trauma injuries." The injury collision occurred when the driver lost control on a curve in the roadway, near Madera Road. The car left the road, hit a power box and then the tree. Simi Valley police officials are looking into the cause of the accident.

I sympathize with these three teenagers who have apparently been seriously injured. I hope none of them has suffered catastrophic injuries and wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. They will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Causes and Liability Issues

Based on this news report, it is not quite clear exactly what caused this tragic crash. There are several unanswered questions here. Were alcohol or drugs factors in this crash? Was the driver fatigued or falling asleep at the wheel? Was there a vehicle defect or mechanical malfunction in the vehicle, which may have caused or contributed to this accident? Was there a dangerous condition on the roadway? Was the driver distracted by something? Was this vehicle run off the roadway by another vehicle? I trust officials are looking for eyewitnesses to this crash and examining these issues in order to determine what led to this accident.

If an auto product defect caused this crash, then, the auto maker or manufacturer of the defective product could be held liable. In such cases, it would be a good idea to preserve the vehicle in its current state, unaltered, so it can be thoroughly examined by an expert for product defects, design flaws, malfunctions or other evidence. An experienced Ventura personal injury lawyer will be able to advise victims and their families about their legal rights and options.
