A 37-year-old woman was injured in an Anaheim car accident after three cars collided on the 91 Freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the crash occurred the morning of August 23, 2010 at North Imperial Highway. The woman was driving her Chevrolet HHR westbound when a collision occurred between her vehicle, a Toyota Matrix and a white pickup truck. No one else was injured in this crash. The woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
I'm relieved to hear that this woman was not critically injured in this collision. I wish her the very best for a quick and complete recovery. She will be in my prayers.
Car Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 21 people were killed and 2,018 people were injured in Anaheim car accidents. That same year, there were 152 fatalities and 13,414 personal injuries involving Orange County car accidents.
What Caused This Accident?
It is unclear from this report what may have caused this injury collision. Was this a rear-end collision? Was this accident the result of an unsafe lane change? Motorists are required under the law to exercise caution while making a lane change. California Vehicle Code Section 21658 (a) states that whenever a roadway has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic in one direction the vehicle "shall be driven as nearly as practical entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane until such movement can be made with reasonable safety."
Liability Issues
In such cases, the at-fault driver can be held financially responsible for the accident and injuries caused to the other parties. Car accidents that involve multiple vehicles often result in complex investigations because there are several people, insurance companies and possibly, attorneys involved. In such cases, it is critical that injured victims not sign any agreements without first consulting an experienced Anaheim personal injury lawyer. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer will also be able to advise victims about how their car insurance policy might apply to a crash involving an at-fault motorist who is uninsured or underinsured.
