Melissa Ortiz, 36, was killed in a Ventura car accident involving a collision between a car and a dump truck. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal crash occurred on Foothill Road near Santa Paula, the afternoon of January 18, 2012. Officials say Ortiz may have lost control of her car before it veered into oncoming traffic and entered the path of the dump truck. The driver of the truck, Ronald Gray, 49, attempted to avoid the collision but could not do so. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Gray sustained minor injuries to his head.

Karen Gregory, 64, was killed in a Victorville car accident after she lost control of her car and crashed. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal accident occurred in the area of Monte Vista and Olivine roads, the morning of December 16, 2011. Police say Gregory was northbound on Monte Vista in a 1999 Crown Victoria when her car began to swerve. She lost control of the vehicle, which rolled after it left the roadway. Daisy Alfaro, 17, and Jesus Alfaro, 24, were killed in a Bakersfield car accident after a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer in which they were traveling overturned on the 5 Freeway. According to a KCRA news report, the fatal rollover accident occurred on the Interstate 5 in Bakersfield, the morning of November 24, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say Miguel Alfaro let the SUV drift toward the center divider before he attempted to re-enter his lane. The SUV rolled over. Daisy and Jesus Alfaro were killed in the crash and five others were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.

Two people were hospitalized following a San Francisco car accident, the morning of November 9, 2011. According to a news report in The San Francisco Examiner, the car crash occurred near Mariposa and Indiana streets, close to the Interstate 280. Officials report a driver may have lost his brakes, while exiting the highway, and was unable to avoid a Mini Cooper that was at a complete stop. The two injured victims were occupants of the Mini Cooper. They had to be extricated from the vehicle but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Lucciana Francesca Colotta, 18, of Corona, was killed in a Riverside car accident after the vehicle in which she was passenger went out of control and crashed. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal car accident occurred the night of September 17, 2011 near the intersection of Hidden Valley Parkway and Via Blairo Circle in Norco. Officials say Colotta was a rear seat passenger in a Cadillac CTS driven by 23-year-old Antonelo Colotta. The vehicle went out of control and slid into a Hummer H2 SUV. Lucciana Francesca Colotta died at the scene. The driver suffered major injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition. The occupants of the Hummer were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Cayetano Aguilar Martinez, 45, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after the vehicle in which she was a passenger went out of control and crashed. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal car accident occurred early morning on August 14, 2011 on Highway 60 in Chino, near Central Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officials say Martinez was a passenger in a 1996 Toyota Corolla that spun out of control, hit an embankment and overturned. The right side of the vehicle struck a tree. Martinez's head hit against the tree. It is unclear if she was ejected or partially ejected from the vehicle. Another passenger, 43-year-old Juana Martinez, was ejected and suffered major injuries. The driver, 22-year-old Jose Martinez, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The injured victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officials are investigating the cause of this fatal car accident.

A man was injured in an Orange County car accident when his vehicle went off the side of a roadway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the serious injury accident occurred on northbound 241 toll road near Trabuco Creek Road the night of April 18, 2011. For unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the roadway and down a 100-foot embankment. The driver involved in this single vehicle crash sustained traumatic injuries and is in critical condition. Investigators are requesting information from additional witnesses to the accident because they currently have conflicting reports about how the crash occurred.
