The driver of the Muni bus that ran over and killed Emily Dunn in a horrific pedestrian accident at a Castro intersection will face criminal charges. According to a news report in The Bay Citizen, the fatal accident occurred August 11, 2011 at the intersection of Hartford and 18th streets. Police said the 23-year-old Dunn had almost finished crossing Hartford Street when a Muni bus turning from 18th Street hit and crushed her under its wheels. The driver, Wallace Loggins, has been charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. He could face up to one year in county jail if convicted.

December 19, 2011—A San Francisco man was fatally injured Friday when a "party bus" on which he was working rolled on top of him. Investigators are still determining the cause of the San Francisco bus accident.
58-year-old Walter Pietiala was a mechanic who was working on the vehicle when the accident occurred. Apparently the bus rolled off a ramp on which it was parked, pinning Pietiala beneath it and killing him.
Representatives of California Experience, LLC, the company which owns the bus, were not available for comment. California Occupational Safety and Health officials are investigating the cause of the accident, but have made no determination yet as to what safety procedures were being used or if the company’s safety rules were being followed at the time of the accident. A man was injured in a San Francisco car accident that involved several vehicles. According to a Bay City News report, the injury collision occurred on the Bay Bridge the morning of December 5, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say a 28-year-old Vallejo man driving a Chevrolet Avalanche was taken to a local hospital. An AC Transit bus, a Nissan Versa and a Ford pickup truck were also involved in the incident. No other injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing.

A pedestrian was killed in a San Francisco Muni bus accident after he was struck while walking to work. Officials say the man was crossing the street when the 14-L bus pulled out of the bus zone, hit him and rolled over his legs. He was pinned under the bus and pronounced dead at the hospital. It is not clear if the bus driver will be cited for the fatal collision.

A 19-year-old woman sustained major injuries in a San Francisco pedestrian accident after she was struck by a Muni bus. Laila Brenner was seriously injured in a San Francisco bus accident after a Muni bus ran over her arm and then left the scene without stopping. According to a news report in The San Francisco Examiner, the bicycle accident occurred near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Broadway, in North Beach, on September 14, 2011. Brenner had to change lanes on her bike to avoid a double-parked car when the Muni bus struck her bicycle. The rear right tire of the bus ran over Brenner's arm as she fell onto the roadway. According to a September 22, 2011 report, the victim's arm was so badly swollen she could not receive treatment for the multiple fractures for days. She now has additional surgical procedures scheduled. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A 5-year-old boy sustained major injuries in a San Francisco pedestrian accident after he was struck while crossing the street. Dr. Kevin Mack, 52, was killed in a San Francisco bus accident involving a University of California at San Francisco shuttle bus and a big rig. The authorities report that the driver of the shuttle bus may have run a red light before colliding with the big rig. Mack was ejected from the shuttle and fatally injured. Two women and a man who were passengers on the shuttle bus were injured. The driver of the shuttle bus sustained minor injuries in the crash as well. Officials say the shuttle bus did not have seatbelts.

A 21-year-old man was killed and five others were injured in a San Francisco area car accident the afternoon of June 29, 2011. According to an article in The Reporter, the fatal bus accident occurred at the intersection of Walters Road and Pintail Drive in Suisun City, when a Toyota Supra crashed into a Fairfield and Suisin Transit bus.
The driver of the bus and three passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries while two men in the Toyota suffered major injuries. One of them later died at the hospital. Officials say the Toyota was traveling south on Walters when it crashed into the transit bus that was turning left from northbound Walters onto Pintail. The men in the Toyota suffered head injuries and massive leg injuries, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.
