Brutal Dog Attack Critically Injures Man in Riverside County

A 65-year-old man has sustained critical injuries in a dog bite incident in Riverside County involving a pit bull. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the brutal dog attack occurred on October 15, 2010 in the backyard of the man's Murrieta home. Officials say the man was alone with the dog and "disciplining" the animal when it attacked him, biting his arm, throat and groin. Officials say the dog was owned by the man's nephew. Blood and flesh were found all over the patio, the report states. Officers eventually subdued the pit bull with a dart gun. The dog bite victim is in the intensive care unit on a breathing tube. The dog is scheduled to be euthanized after a 10-day holding period with the permission of the owner. More

The body of Jerry Yates, 69, was found with large bite marks and torn flesh on August 22, 2010 when a neighbor's pit bulls mauled him in a dog bite incident that happened on his own property. According to an ABC News report, the owner of the two pit bulls, Sheryl Sellers, was holding the two dogs in an enclosure that was inadequate to restrain dogs of that size. Aaron Carlson, a 2-year-old boy, was killed in a dog bite incident inside his San Diego home the morning of July 31, 2010. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the fatal dog attack involving the family's own dog, happened in an upstairs bedroom while the mother was downstairs. Aaron's siblings -- ages 3, 5, and 7 -- may have witnessed the attack, officials say. A San Diego woman is offering a $500 reward for information about a pit bull involved in a dog bite incident two weeks ago. Tina Souza was attacked and bitten by a pit bull as she walked in her neighborhood. According to a 10news report, Souza says the white and brown pit bull ran through a gate and lunged straight for her throat. When Souza put her arm up to protect herself, the dog bit a chunk of flesh off her arm. More
