Man Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter after DUI Collision

Marcus Alex Nelson, 21, and Aaron Beaver, 21, were killed in a San Luis Obispo car accident involving a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Tribune, the fatal DUI collision occurred the early morning of June 17, 2011 on Avila Beach Drive in San Luis Obispo.

The 2004 Saturn that Evan Alexander Green was driving rolled over several times. Passengers, Nelson and Beaver, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Green, who was charged with vehicular manslaughter, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Officials say Green had a blood alcohol level of .245 and .232 the two times they gave him a BAC test, which is about three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

According to a news article in The San Diego Reader, the DUI collision occurred near Rueda Drive and Tierrasanta Boulevard in Tierrasanta, the night of May 18, 2011. An 18-year-old driver of a speeding vehicle lost control and crashed into a car traveling in the opposing traffic lane, on Rueda. One of the vehicles involved rolled onto its side and the other hit a telephone junction box. Six people were injured and some of the injuries were reported as serious. Police say that there were scattered beer cans at the scene of the accident, and that they suspect the teen driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Monarrez died from her injuries. The driver was critically injured and two others sustained relatively minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle could face felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.

The Press Enterprise reports that the injury chain-reaction crash occurred on the 10 Freeway in Yucaipa the night of April 6, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say the accident involved four or five vehicles and was triggered by the driver of a white Honda who made an unsafe lane change. The injured victim was taken to a local hospital. One person was booked on suspicion of DUI.

Police say a Chevy pickup truck hit a property's landscaping rocks when the driver was unable to negotiate a curve in the road. The fatal car accident occurred on San Joaquin Hills Road near Spyglass Hill Road the evening of February 21, 2011 when 22-year-old Danae Marie Miller, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta on San Joaquin Hills, struck the bicyclist. The male bicyclist died from his injuries. Miller was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Authorities are looking into the circumstances of this fatal crash.
