Robert Switt, 62, was injured in a car accident after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle that was attempting a turn. According to a news report in the Union Democrat, the injury crash occurred on Highway 49 near Jack Page Road in Sonora, the morning of October 17, 2011. CHP officials say that traffic had slowed for a vehicle that was making a right turn. Switt lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle while attempting to adjust to the slowed traffic. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries when the motorcycle overturned and landed on his leg.

Tung Nguyen, 26, and Janet Mooshagian, 77, were fatally injured in a Fresno car accident after a motorcycle and Cadillac collided on a city street. According to a KFSN news report, the motorcycle accident occurred on Friant Road in Fresno, the afternoon of October 16, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say that Nguyen was riding a motorcycle when it struck a Cadillac that was turning left into a private driveway. Nguyen was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. Mooshagian was a passenger in the Cadillac who suffered fatal injuries. The 83-year-old driver of the Cadillac sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A male motorcyclist was injured in a Fresno car accident involving a suspected drunk driver. According to KFSN, the DUI crash occurred on Highway 180, near Highway 168, the night of October 2, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of a station wagon struck a car and a motorcycle on the highway. The rider suffered a possible broken leg. The driver of the car that was hit was uninjured. The driver of the station wagon was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A 51-year-old man was killed in a Los Angeles County motorcycle accident involving a big rig. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal collision occurred on the Garfield Avenue on-ramp of the 10 Freeway in Alhambra, the afternoon of September 23, 2011. For unknown reasons, the victim’s 2008 Harley-Davidson Road King veered out of control on the on-ramp and struck a big rig. The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle and hit by a truck in the right lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the afternoon of September 18, 2011 on Highway 33 between Lockwood Valley and Pine Mountain Summit north of Ojai.

Jesus Ravega, 48, an off-duty LAPD officer, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles after he lost control of his cycle, crashed and was run over by a big rig. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on September 2, 2011 on the northbound 101 Freeway near the connector to the 110 Freeway. California Highway Patrol officials say Ravega lost control while passing a big rig truck. The truck ran over the officer's motorcycle and then the officer. Ravega was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Naome Lynn Sevigny, 53, was killed in a Butte County car accident when she was thrown from the back of a motorcycle. According to a news report in The Chico Enterprise Record, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 70 and Pentz Road, the evening of July 29, 2011. Sevigny was a passenger on a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Dale Sevigny, 57, when it collided with a Jeep Liberty. The driver of the Jeep, Sharol Robinson, 52, reportedly caused the crash by turning left from Pentz and pulling in front of the motorcycle. Naome Lynn Sevigny was killed, Dale Sevigny sustained major injuries. The two occupants of the Jeep, Robinson and Michael Morris, 50, were not injured. An investigation is ongoing.

Milo Manley, 58, suffered major injuries in a Lake County car accident after the Honda motorcycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn. According to a report in Lake County News, the major injury collision occurred on Highway 20, near the Lodge at Blue Lakes, the morning of July 24, 2011.

California Highway Patrol officials say 33-year-old Paul Ruggirello was driving his 2004 Chrysler Pacifica west on Highway 20 and was slowing to make a left turn at Blue Lakes when he failed to see Manley's 2008 Honda. Ruggirello turned directly into the path of the motorcycle. Manley was ejected due to the collision and sustained major injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital in Santa Rosa with a fractured right leg, left wrist and right ankle. An investigation is ongoing.

Walter Guiterrez, 24, was killed in a Ventura car accident when a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot ahead of his motorcycle. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway, near Point Mugu State Beach, the afternoon of July 4, 2011. Gutierrez was travelling on his Suzuki motorcycle, when a 2011 Dodge Challenger driven by Mindee Martinez, 37, pulled out of a beach parking lot in front of him. Gutierrez suffered fatal injuries when he struck the driver's side of the vehicle. It is not clear at the moment if Martinez will be cited for the fatal crash.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Walter Guiterrez following this horrific motorcycle accident. According to the report, Gutierrez was married and the father of a 5-month-old baby. Tragic! My thoughts and prayers are with Gutierrez's grieving family.

A 21-year-old motorcyclist identified as Alexandro Bravo sustained major injuries in a car accident in Bakersfield after he was struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn. KERO News reports that the injury accident happened near the intersection of State Route 184 and East Brundage Lane when Bravo's northbound 2007 GSX-R750 was struck by a van that turned left in front of him to enter a gas station. Bravo sustained major injuries while four people in the van suffered relatively minor injuries.
