Milo Manley, 58, suffered major injuries in a Lake County car accident after the Honda motorcycle he was riding was struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn. According to a report in Lake County News, the major injury collision occurred on Highway 20, near the Lodge at Blue Lakes, the morning of July 24, 2011.

California Highway Patrol officials say 33-year-old Paul Ruggirello was driving his 2004 Chrysler Pacifica west on Highway 20 and was slowing to make a left turn at Blue Lakes when he failed to see Manley's 2008 Honda. Ruggirello turned directly into the path of the motorcycle. Manley was ejected due to the collision and sustained major injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital in Santa Rosa with a fractured right leg, left wrist and right ankle. An investigation is ongoing.

Walter Guiterrez, 24, was killed in a Ventura car accident when a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot ahead of his motorcycle. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway, near Point Mugu State Beach, the afternoon of July 4, 2011. Gutierrez was travelling on his Suzuki motorcycle, when a 2011 Dodge Challenger driven by Mindee Martinez, 37, pulled out of a beach parking lot in front of him. Gutierrez suffered fatal injuries when he struck the driver's side of the vehicle. It is not clear at the moment if Martinez will be cited for the fatal crash.

A 21-year-old motorcyclist identified as Alexandro Bravo sustained major injuries in a car accident in Bakersfield after he was struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn. KERO News reports that the injury accident happened near the intersection of State Route 184 and East Brundage Lane when Bravo's northbound 2007 GSX-R750 was struck by a van that turned left in front of him to enter a gas station. Bravo sustained major injuries while four people in the van suffered relatively minor injuries.

Josue Corado, 27, was killed in a Long Beach car accident when a Chevy pickup turned in front of his 1999 Yamaha motorcycle the night of May 9, 2011. According to a news report in The Press-Telegram, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Home Street in Long Beach. Corado was riding his Yamaha motorcycle north, when Josue Avalos, 24, made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. Corado was thrown from his motorcycle in the collision. He was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a nearby hospital. Avalos may face criminal charges in connection with this fatal collision.

A man was injured in a Lake County car accident after his motorcycle was rear-ended by a car. According to a report in The Lake County News, the serious injury motorcycle accident occurred on Highway 20 near the Marina Market in Nice the night of April 24, 2011. The man suffered major injuries including a broken femur. It is unclear from the report if the driver of the car will be cited for the rear-end accident. An investigation is pending.

According to a KPSP news report, the motorcycle accident occurred on Interstate 10 at Washington Street in Desert Hot Springs the morning of March 29, 2011. A grey Toyota Matrix struck the motorcycle and the rider was thrown into the middle of the fast lane. The victim suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

A car accident in Modesto resulted in fatal injuries for a 52-year-old woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle. The Modesto Bee reports that the fatal car accident happened the morning of March 12, 2011 at the intersection of McHenry Avenue and Meily Way. An elderly driver of a Toyota Corolla made a left turn into the path of the Harley Davidson on which the woman was a passenger. The 87-year-old woman, who was driving the Toyota, was uninjured. The motorcycle rider, a 52-year-old man, sustained leg and back injuries.

A hit-and-run car accident in Huntington Beach left a motorcyclist gravely injured the afternoon of February 24, 2011. The Orange County Register reports that the injury motorcycle accident happened near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Slater Avenue. The motorcyclist was struck by a Dodge Charger or Magnum sedan, which then left the scene of the crash. The motorcyclist was hospitalized with major injuries. A 36-year-old off-duty fire captain who was killed in a car accident in San Bernardino the evening of February 11, 2011 has been identified by officials as Gabriel Pomona. The Press-Enterprise reports that the deadly car crash happened at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Tinkerbell Avenue in Big Bear, when a pickup truck made a left turn in front of Pomona's motorcycle. Pomona was transported to a local hospital where he died.

My heart goes out to Pomona's wife, Summer, and everyone else who knew and loved him. According to news reports, Pomona was a respected fireman and a valued member of the community. His grieving family, friends and fellow firefighters will be in my prayers.

A 58-year-old Fullerton Union High School teacher who was injured in a motorcycle accident the night of January 19, 2011, has been identified as Jeff Rupp. The Orange County Register reports that the injury car accident happened at Euclid Street and Malvern Avenue in Fullerton when the driver of a 2004 Hyundai sedan made a left turn in front of Rupp's Harley Davidson. Rupp suffered fractures and head trauma, but he is expected to survive. Police are investigating the cause of this accident.
