Reward Offered in Santa Clara Hit-and-Run Case

Michelle Simmons is offering a $1,500 cash reward to anyone that can help her locate the hit-and-run driver responsible for causing the San Francisco area car accident that resulted in serious injuries for her and a passenger. The hit-and-run car accident occurred the evening of November 29, 2011 on Watsonville Road in the unincorporated Gilroy area of Santa Clara.

According to The Morgan Hill Times, Simmons was driving a Honda convertible and rounding a blind curve when her vehicle approached a car in her lane of traffic. The vehicle clipped the front of her Honda sending it spinning into a telephone pole and down a roadside ravine. Simmons suffered a leg injury and burns to her face. Her passenger sustained a broken back and both of them still suffer from whiplash-related back problems. Simmons is offering the reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run driver in this case.

San Francisco Area Car Accident Causes Injuries

Hugo Garcia-Espinoza, 22, Guillermo Montanez, 58, and two passengers were injured in a San Francisco car accident when their vehicles collided head-on. According to a news report in The Napa Valley Register, the injury accident occurred on Highway 29 near Robert Louis Stevenson State Park in Mount St. Helena, the afternoon of December 17, 2011. Officials say Garcia-Espinoza drove his Honda Civic into oncoming traffic in an attempt to pass a car and struck a Honda Accord driven by Montanez. Garcia-Espinoza suffered a possible broken femur in the crash. Montanez and his two passengers, a 51-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if Garcia-Espinoza will be cited for the collision.

Woman Killed in Victorville Car Accident

Karen Gregory, 64, was killed in a Victorville car accident after she lost control of her car and crashed. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal accident occurred in the area of Monte Vista and Olivine roads, the morning of December 16, 2011. Police say Gregory was northbound on Monte Vista in a 1999 Crown Victoria when her car began to swerve. She lost control of the vehicle, which rolled after it left the roadway. Five people suffered injuries in a car accident after the driver of a Honda Civic crossed double yellow lines and crashed into a Caltrans truck and trailer on Highway 70 in Oroville. According to a news report in the Chico Enterprise Record, the injury collision occurred the morning of December 14, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of the Caltrans truck, 60-year-old Gary Wayne Wagner, was southbound on Highway 70 near Cox Lane. He then slowed down to make a legal left turn across the highway.

A 16-year-old boy and an 8-year-old were injured in a Riverside car accident after a 1996 Lexus went out of control and slid off a wet roadway. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the injury accident occurred the afternoon of December 12, 2011 in the eastbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard at Royal Hill Drive in Riverside. Officials say the 16-year-old driver failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a tree. The young driver has been listed in critical condition and his 8-year-old passenger was hospitalized for observation.

Debra E. Jones, 57, was seriously injured in a Bakersfield car accident after a vehicle struck her as she was crossing the road, the evening of December 6, 2011. According to a news report in The Californian, the pedestrian accident occurred on North Chester Avenue at Hughes Lane in Bakersfield. Officials say Jones was in the number two lane when the right front of a 2002 Honda Civic, driven by 27-year-old Oscar R. Esquivel, hit her. She sustained major injuries in the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

According to a news report in The Fresno Bee, the fatal car accident occurred on Olive Avenue west of Peach Avenue in Fresno, the morning of December 5, 2011. Officials say a 1960s Chevrolet Nova sped out of a gas station before drifting into oncoming traffic and striking a late-model pickup. The driver of the Nova was killed, while the driver of the truck and two child occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A man was injured in a San Francisco car accident that involved several vehicles. According to a Bay City News report, the injury collision occurred on the Bay Bridge the morning of December 5, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say a 28-year-old Vallejo man driving a Chevrolet Avalanche was taken to a local hospital. An AC Transit bus, a Nissan Versa and a Ford pickup truck were also involved in the incident. No other injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing.

Two Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident

Two people were injured in a Los Angeles car accident after a sheriff's patrol car collided with a civilian vehicle. According to a news report in the Daily Breeze, the injury collision occurred early morning on December 5, 2011 at the intersection of Rosecrans and Hawthorne avenues in Lawndale. Officials say the deputy in the squad car was responding to a burglary call. The squad car was traveling north on Hawthorne and the other car was eastbound on Rosecrans. The civilian vehicle was T-boned and both drivers were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is being investigated by the Hawthorne Police Department.
