Woman Killed in Ventura County Car Accident

Melissa Ortiz, 36, was killed in a Ventura car accident involving a collision between a car and a dump truck. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the fatal crash occurred on Foothill Road near Santa Paula, the afternoon of January 18, 2012. Officials say Ortiz may have lost control of her car before it veered into oncoming traffic and entered the path of the dump truck. The driver of the truck, Ronald Gray, 49, attempted to avoid the collision but could not do so. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Gray sustained minor injuries to his head.

Karen Gregory, 64, was killed in a Victorville car accident after she lost control of her car and crashed. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal accident occurred in the area of Monte Vista and Olivine roads, the morning of December 16, 2011. Police say Gregory was northbound on Monte Vista in a 1999 Crown Victoria when her car began to swerve. She lost control of the vehicle, which rolled after it left the roadway. Teen Driver Critically Injured in Riverside Car Accident

A 16-year-old boy and an 8-year-old were injured in a Riverside car accident after a 1996 Lexus went out of control and slid off a wet roadway. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the injury accident occurred the afternoon of December 12, 2011 in the eastbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard at Royal Hill Drive in Riverside. Officials say the 16-year-old driver failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a tree. The young driver has been listed in critical condition and his 8-year-old passenger was hospitalized for observation.

A pedestrian accident in San Diego resulted in serious injuries for three high school students the afternoon of December 2, 2010. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the injury pedestrian accident occurred near the intersection of Sweetwater Road and Blossom Lane in Spring Valley when the driver of a Chevy Silverado pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, went over the curb and struck the teens, who were walking on a sidewalk. The three young men in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with what has been described as "significant blunt force trauma injuries."
