Javier Rodriguez, Jr., 19, of Bellflower was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after the vehicle, which he was driving, went out of control and crashed. According to a news report in The Cerritos Patch, the fatal rollover crash occurred the afternoon of January 5, 2012 on the 91Freeway near Shoemaker Avenue in Cerritos. California Highway Patrol officials say Rodriguez's vehicle overturned and he was was thrown onto the freeway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials are still investigating the cause of this fatal crash.

A 72-year-old man was killed in a San Bernardino car accident involving a head-on collision, the morning of January 4, 2012. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal crash occurred along Highway 18 near Caughlin Road in Victorville. Officials say the man, who was driving a 2008 Ford Focus, crossed the double yellow lines and entered into opposing lanes of traffic, before hitting a Toyota Corolla driven by 31-year-old Ronald Lee Cuellar. The driver of the Focus was killed at the scene of the collision, while Cuellar suffered head injuries and a possible broken right ankle. It is unclear at this time why the Ford drifted into oncoming traffic.

Karen Gregory, 64, was killed in a Victorville car accident after she lost control of her car and crashed. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal accident occurred in the area of Monte Vista and Olivine roads, the morning of December 16, 2011. Police say Gregory was northbound on Monte Vista in a 1999 Crown Victoria when her car began to swerve. She lost control of the vehicle, which rolled after it left the roadway. A San Diego car accident, which fatally injured 48-year-old Marciano Mendoza Cruz, may have been caused by a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal car accident occurred on the 15 Freeway at Route 78 in Escondido, the morning of December 12, 2011. Officials say Cruz was a passenger in a 1999 BMW being driven by his daughter, Anallely Mendoza, 20. Officials say Anallely Mendoza was driving too fast and lost control of the vehicle sending it spinning into the path of a Ford Econoline van. The van hit the BMW on the passenger side and the father sustained fatal injuries. Officials were getting ready to charge the daughter for reckless driving.

David Gomez, 40, of Hayward was killed in an San Francisco area car accident after a white Ford Econoline van hit his wheelchair as he was crossing in a crosswalk. According to a news report in The San Francisco Chronicle, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Gomer Street at Patrick Avenue near Weekes Park in Hayward. Officials say Gomez was crossing the street the night of December 10, 2011 when the Ford van turned right onto Patrick and struck him. Roy Rasmussen, 70, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, the night of December 10, 2011. According to a news article in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the 16300 block of Foothill Boulevard in Fontana. Officials say a Nissan Sentra, which was traveling westbound on Foothill, hit Rasmussen. The victim was not in a crosswalk at the time, police report. Rasmussen was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries shortly afterward. An investigation is ongoing.

A 29-year-old man was killed in a Fresno car accident that also resulted in injuries to three others. According to a news report in The Fresno Bee, the fatal car accident occurred on Olive Avenue west of Peach Avenue in Fresno, the morning of December 5, 2011. Officials say a 1960s Chevrolet Nova sped out of a gas station before drifting into oncoming traffic and striking a late-model pickup. The driver of the Nova was killed, while the driver of the truck and two child occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a San Diego car accident that proved fatal for 40-year-old Shawn Kinzer. According to a 10News report, the motorcycle accident occurred the night of November 10, 2011 on the Interstate 8 in El Cajon. California Highway Patrol officials say Kinzer was riding his Honda CBR 600 in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, near Mollison Avenue, when he collided with a car.

The motorist involved in the accident did not remain at the scene. Kinzer was transported to an area hospital where he died. Officials have described the hit-and-run vehicle as a light-colored 1997 to 2001 model Buick Park Avenue. The vehicle will likely have minor to moderate damage on the left side including to its left side mirror, doors, and possibly the left front. Daisy Alfaro, 17, and Jesus Alfaro, 24, were killed in a Bakersfield car accident after a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer in which they were traveling overturned on the 5 Freeway. According to a KCRA news report, the fatal rollover accident occurred on the Interstate 5 in Bakersfield, the morning of November 24, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say Miguel Alfaro let the SUV drift toward the center divider before he attempted to re-enter his lane. The SUV rolled over. Daisy and Jesus Alfaro were killed in the crash and five others were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.

Sondra Gentile, 61, was killed in a San Francisco area car accident, which officials report, involved a suspected drunk driver who left the scene of the crash. According to a news article in The San Bruno Patch, the fatal DUI collision occurred during the early morning hours of November 17, 2011. A Cadillac STS, which was traveling south on El Camino Real hit the driver's side door of Gentile's Honda Civic as she was exiting Highway 380.

Gentile sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Cadillac, later identified as 21-year-old Mitnesh Reddy, fled the scene of the crash and was arrested at his home later that morning. He has been charged with several felonies including DUI, hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter.
