Melissa N. Ferreira, 25, was killed in a San Diego car accident when a vehicle hit her and a male pedestrian, during the early hours of November 19, 2011. According to a 10News report, the pedestrian accident occurred in front of the El Cajon Grand Bar on Main Street in El Cajon. Officials say the two pedestrians were crossing the street when a Mitsubishi Montero struck them. Ferreira suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The male victim sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the SUV has not been charged for the collision and the authorities do not suspect that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.

Daniel Padilla, 54, was killed in a San Jose car accident after being struck by two sedans, as he crossed the road. According to a report in The San Jose Mercury News, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Tully Road in San Jose, the night of November 9, 2011. Officials have not released information regarding how the fatal collision occurred. Padilla was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on November 11, 2011. The authorities questioned the 66-year-old man from Modesto and the 26-year-old man from San Jose who struck Padilla but neither was arrested. It is unclear if either will face charges.

A pedestrian was killed in a San Francisco Muni bus accident after he was struck while walking to work. According to a news report in The San Francisco Chronicle, the fatal bus accident occurred at Fifth and Mission streets in San Francisco, the afternoon of November 13, 2011. Officials say the man was crossing the street when the 14-L bus pulled out of the bus zone, hit him and rolled over his legs. He was pinned under the bus and pronounced dead at the hospital. Richard Arnold Crosse, 56, of Valley Springs, was killed in a Calaveras County car accident after a Jeep Cherokee crossed the double yellow lines and struck his 2001 Harley-Davidson. According to a news report in The Calaveras Enterprise, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Highway 26 west of Hogan Dam Road in Valley Springs, the afternoon of November 1, 2011.

Officials say Becky Lee Foster, 47, the driver of the Jeep, took her eyes of the roadway to look at the speedometer and lost control of her vehicle. The Jeep veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the Harley Davidson. Crosse was fatally injured in the crash and his passenger, 83-year-old Adelle Cross, was severely injured. Foster sustained relatively minor injuries. It is unclear if she will be cited for the collision.

Tung Nguyen, 26, and Janet Mooshagian, 77, were fatally injured in a Fresno car accident after a motorcycle and Cadillac collided on a city street. According to a KFSN news report, the motorcycle accident occurred on Friant Road in Fresno, the afternoon of October 16, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say that Nguyen was riding a motorcycle when it struck a Cadillac that was turning left into a private driveway. Nguyen was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. Mooshagian was a passenger in the Cadillac who suffered fatal injuries. The 83-year-old driver of the Cadillac sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Dong Ihn, 81, was killed in a Temecula car accident after he was struck by a teen driver, the night of October 16, 2011. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred along Deer Hollow near Pechanga Parkway. Officials say an 18-year-old man was driving a black Mazda 3 east on Deer Hollow when it hit the victim and his dog. Ihn died from his injuries as did the dog. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact traffic investigators at 951-696-3000. An investigation is ongoing.

Two brothers, identified as 22-year-old Eladio Ramirez and Armando Ramirez, 16, suffered fatal injuries on the job after they were overcome by toxic fumes in a drainage tunnel at a recycling facility. According to a news report in the Bakersfield Californian, the fatal workplace accident occurred the morning of October 12, 2011 at the Community Recycling and Resource Company. Officials say Armando Ramirez was cleaning the inside of the drain pipe when he was overcome by fumes. Eladio Ramirez then went in to rescue his younger brother when he too was overcome by the gas later determined to be hydrogen sulphide, which can be extremely poisonous in large concentrations. A third victim was injured and treated.

Merida Quintana, 52, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident involving a collision between a car and a big rig. According to a news report The Long Beach Press-Telegram, the fatal truck accident occurred on the northbound 605 Freeway at South Street in Cerritos, the morning of October 5, 2011. It is not clear at this time what may have led to the fatal collision. Quintana passed away at the scene of the crash. Investigators are trying to determine if the weather was a contributing factor in the accident.
